Andrea Lyn Van Benschoten profile photoI have been called a “high tech woman with low tech hobbies.” Well, that might be true, but I feel both sides come together to create a unique skill set that combines the creative with the analytical.

When it comes to my high tech side, I have a varied background in web content, search engine optimization, business analysis, user training, and analytics review. For 12 years I worked in the IT Department of Advantage Business Media (formerly Reed New Product division/Cahners) providing support for all areas of technology.

Like many, I have a “side-hustle” and provide a variety of services, including SEO, blogging, content development, and social media management.

I have a BA in Journalism and Desktop Publishing, am a cum laude graduate of Seton Hall University, and have a strong interest in editorial and web technology.

For over a decade I was a volunteer with Casting for Recovery. This non-profit takes women in all stages of breast cancer recovery on fly fishing retreats. Since my involvement with the program, I have served as fly fishing instructor, state coordinator and retreat leader. You can learn more about CFR by going to: www.castingforrecovery.org.

When it comes to my low tech side, I enjoy film photography, fly fishing, fly tying, crochet, yarn spinning, felting, yoga, geocaching, and hiking – nothing that really involves any electronic devices. Just nature or things that come from nature. Unplugging clears the mind and restores the soul.
